My suggestion is to view the famous Cliffs of Moher by sunset. It is only 1 hour from Balally House to the Cliffs. They are far less crowded and a great way to end your journey before flying out of Shannon. Or indeed a great way to start your journey. Fly into Shannon, get settled in at Balally House, take the drive to the cliffs and back and then head south to Kerry after breakfast the next morning. It is easy to google sunset times at the Cliffs of Moher no matter when you decide to visit. For example in July sunset is as late as 10pm or in March it is around 6:30pm.
The exit barrier at the visitor centre will open automatically if it is after closing times but I suggest parking further down from the cliffs where the locals go at a place near Hags Head. Follow the signs before the Rock shop in Liscannor coming from Lahinch. There is a farm here that charges only €2 to park. Its really a lovely 5km walk along the cliffs towards the Tower.
